Placements, it’s generally one of the most important question for anyone joining any institution. Being a member of the placement cell for the past year, I have had the privilege of experiencing and observing the entire placement activity in the institute. I consider it my pride to say that since its inception in 2003, The LNMIIT has seen a remarkable improvement in its placement records.

The first batch passed out with most of the students interested in higher studies. Since the institute had just had its initiation, instead of having companies coming on campus, the students were sent to various companies for placements. Our second batch, saw a remarkable record in terms of placements, for an institute only starting to make its mark. We had almost the whole of the batch placed and many reputed companies like TCS,CSC,Sapient and Wipro visited the campus for recruitments. In 2009, with recession setting in and most of the colleges suffering in terms of placement percentage, LNMIIT boasted of a remarkable placement record of almost 70% ,and the highest package hitting an astounding 11.5 lacs from D. E Shaw. Companies like TCS, CSC,Patni and Infosys visited our campus that year .

In the past two years the institute has seen a stream of companies visiting the campus. In the year 2010 companies like Ericsson, Tech Mahindra and Futures First were added to our list of recruiters.

For the 2011 batch the institute has seen an even better placement session. For a batch of mere 96 we have had plenty of companies visiting the campus including TCS,MindTree, Patni, Mahindra Satyam, CSC, Ericsson, HMEL,Futures First and Samsung. We have also had The Indian Army recruiting both third and fourth year students for their TES course. The entire batch has been placed with all students having offers of their choice. The highest package offered has been 8.5 lac by Futures First.

The institute has also been a part of EMPOWER program at Ericsson,for the past two years.Through EMPOWER Brand,Ericsson maintains relationship with students and Universities in 3 phases.

For an institute as young as ours , having an almost hundred percent placement record, and names like Ericsson, CSC, Infosys,TCS and now Smasung being in our list of recruiters is a big achievement in itself. As the institute grows as a brand, we expect more companies to join the list, but till date wherever LNMIITians have been placed, they have managed to make a mark by their excellent technical skills and their remarkable personalities. As it is said “Your Education is worth what You are worth”, and we LNMIITians are definitely worth a lot! J

And finally since now I’m in the fourth year, hope our placement records gets even better and more and more companies visit the campus for the session 2011-2012! Wish me luck!!

Swati Bhargava, is the first author of the paper which has been declared as the best paper in Optical Network Symposium in the ICC 2010 conference.

ICC is one of the premier conference in Communications in the world (this time, it is being held in South Africa in May), and has 11 tracks or Technical Symposiums. Each track is like a conference by itself, with 60-80 papers in the track.

Prof. Raghuvir Tomar has been elected as a Fellow of IETE, the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, India. He was the Chief Guest at a recently held conference, National Conference on Electronics, Computers and Communication, organized by IETE in Gwalior.

One of his recent students, Deepak Nair, has had a paper accepted in 14th International Symposium on Antennas and Electromagnetics and The American Electromagnetics Conference (ANTEM/AMEREM 2010).

One of the PhD students working with Dr. Arti Kashyap, Ms Priyanka, got her paper accepted in International Conference "21st Workshop on Rare-Earth Permanent Magnets and their Applications" to be held at Bled, Slovenia. This is a very reputed and focused conference among the magnetic materials research community.

Dr. Subhayan Biswas has had one of his papers accepted in the journal, "Electrochemistry Communications. " This journal is from Elsevier and its impact factor is more than 4.

One of our MS students, Mr. Harsh Kushwaha, working with Dr. J B Shukla has had one of his papers accepted by the INFORMS Marketing Science Conf-2010 to be held at Univ of Cologne-Germany.

Dr. Somenath Biswas has had one of his papers accepted in Physics Review Letters, one of the most prestigious journals for Physics research in the world.

The LNMIIT students are really on the march towards excellence. In the recently announced results for GATE, two LNMIITians are in top 100 for CS - Rahul Nihalini at All India Rank of 21, and Gowthami has a rank of 72. There are at least 5 more in the top 1000 ranks. So we expect about 5 students to join an IIT for MTech programs.

At the same time, 4 students receive calls from 1 or more IIMs. We are sure that at least in a couple of cases, these calls will convert to admission offers. Students have also done well in other graduate admission tests like JMET, MAT, etc.

It is heartening to note that the percentage of students who go for a second degree from LNMIIT continues to be very large compared to other fine institutions in India, and we are proud of it.
