Eligibility Criteria for Professor’s Position
- Educational Qualification
- Essential: PhD / DPhil or equivalent in relevant area from an accredited institution of good standing with consistently good academic record at all levels.
- Desirable: Post-Doctoral Fellowship in an established research institution / Laboratory or exposure to industry/fieldwork in relevant disciplines is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience
- Post-PhD 10 years of relevant teaching and research experience in an Institution of higher learning out of which a minimum of five years has to be as an Associate Professor or equivalent /comparable level in an Industry / Research Laboratory. (This criterion may be relaxed up to three years in case there is credible evidence of exceptional research, excellent teaching, or outstanding institutional/educational/entrepreneurial/industrial design or thought leadership.)
- Doctoral Supervision:
- 04 completed PhD Theses as independent or primary Advisor / Guide / Supervisor. (In case of people coming from the Scientific / Industrial Research Laboratory, the Faculty Search Committee (FSC) or Recruitment Panel may relax this parameter subject to evidence of comparable research-based project/technology / entrepreneurial/societal outreach leadership or transfer of technology for industrial / field use.)
- Publications
- 20 top refereed SCI/SCIE/AHCI (preferably Q1) or equivalent international journal papers depending upon the discipline in question (or 20 (10 J +10 C) equivalent high-value research publications (Example: 10 top refereed international journal/equivalent + 10 top refereed international conferences or equivalent depending upon the discipline in question. (Number of research publications may be relaxed in case of candidates holding five or more granted patents of high value evaluated by subject matter experts. In case of certain disciplines like English, publications could be of other credible kinds like anthologies, critical reviews, etc. as already established in best-in-class institutions in the area.)
- Sponsored/ Externally Funded Research Projects
- At least TWO externally funded/sponsored major research projects. (This requirement may be relaxed if there is credible evidence of significant impact making societal contributions recognized nationally or internationally.)
Eligibility Criteria for Associate Professor’s Position
- Educational Qualification
- Essential: PhD / DPhil or equivalent in relevant area from an accredited institution of good standing with consistently good academic record at all levels.
- Desirable: Post-Doctoral Fellowship in an established research institution / Laboratory or exposure to industry/fieldwork in relevant disciplines is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience
- Post-PhD 6 years of relevant teaching and research experience in an Institution of higher learning out of which a minimum of 4 years has to be as an Assistant Professor or equivalent/comparable level in industry/research Laboratory. (This criterion may be relaxed by up to three years in case there is credible evidence of exceptional research, excellent teaching or outstanding institutional/educational/entrepreneurial / industrial design or thought leadership.)
- Doctoral Supervision:
- 02 completed PhD Theses. - Desirable: Post-Doctoral Fellowship in an established research institution / Laboratory or exposure to industry/fieldwork in relevant disciplines is desirable but not mandatory.
- Publications
- At least 3 top refereed SCI/SCIE/AHCI (preferably Q1) or equivalent international journal papers depending upon a discipline (e.g. in science/engineering, SCI and SCIE journals and Scopus indexed conference papers are expected to be published in) in question (or 3 (1 J + 2 C) equivalent high-value research publications (Example: 1 top refereed international journal/equivalent + 2 top refereed international conferences or equivalent depending upon the discipline in question. In case of certain disciplines like English, publications could be of other credible kinds like anthologies, critical reviews, etc. as already established in best-in-class institutions in the area, as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines)

- Research support with attractive seed grants/research initiation grants up to Rs. 20 lakhs for new and existing faculty members as per institute norms.
- Medical group insurance policy for faculty and their dependent family members as per institute norms.
- Suitable accommodation facilities depending on the availability, with a nominal license fee as per institute norms.
- Fixed Transportation Allowance (TA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per institute norm.
- Dearness Allowance (DA) is aligned with the central government rate.
- Attractive Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) for the promotion in addition to the open channel.
- Relocation expenses up to Rs. 1 lakh shall be reimbursed at the time of joining the institute.
- Employees will be entitled to casual and privileged leaves as per institute rules.
- Partial financial support for national/international travel to present the research work in approved top-tier conferences and seminars as per the institute norms.
- The institute provides Rs. 1 lakh per year as an annual research grant to cover professional expenses.
- Provision of an additional Rs. 1 lakh to annual research grant of faculty if he/she publishes 02 (or more) Quartile-1 (Q1)/Tier-1 (or equivalent) journal papers AND brings externally funded, research, development, industry or consultancy project of significant value.
- Tuition fee waiver policy for a maximum of two children of the Institute employee, if admitted to any of the Institute programmes through the standard merit based process.
- Faculty excellence awards for exceptional research, teaching, outreach, and institute services.
