The LNM Institute of Information Technology

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering

The ECE discipline was established with the following objectives:

  • To train engineers at UG and PG levels, capable of dealing with real-life challenges in the electronics Industry and in the field of electronic communication.
  • To conduct collaborative research focusing on modern communication systems (e.g., digital communication systems, optical communication systems, wireless communication systems, RF and Microwave systems, and satellite communication systems)

The ECE team is a fine blend of renowned as well as young and dynamic faculty members, having education and experience from renowned institutions in India and abroad. Advanced courses and electives in later years enable students to specialise in communications, signal processing, robotics, VLSI, embedded systems, and other streams. The ECE department also offers specialized M.Tech. and Dual Degree Programs in Communication Systems, Microelectronics, Microwave engineering and VLSI.

Aim

The aim of the Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) department is to impart knowledge and skills related to the design, development, and application of electronic systems and communication technologies. This field focuses on the study of electronic devices, circuits, communication systems, and their integration to create innovative solutions for various industries and sectors. Provide students with a strong foundation in electronic principles, digital and analog circuits, signal processing, communication systems, and related areas.

Vision

To pioneer in the frontier areas of Electronics, Communication and Computing, through pursuit of excellence in value-driven teaching-learning processes, world-class research, and breakthrough innovations to usher a sustainable society in fulfilling national educational goals and developmental needs.

Mission

  • To impart world-class education in step with current global standards in an enabling environment to foster fundamental and applied research useful to industry and society.
  • To strongly encourage innovation, scholarly publication, and intellectual property generation in cutting-edge areas of electronics, communication and computing through national and international collaborations and corporate partnerships.
  • To promote and strongly support the development of entrepreneurial skills, lifelong learning, inspiring leadership, professional ethics, integrity, honesty, and justice.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO-1 Ability to integrate, apply fundamental knowledge of Electronics and Communication Engineering, basic sciences, and mathematics for solving complex real-life problems.

PEO-2 Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and tools to implement multidisciplinary projects, developmental challenges with responsibility and leadership.

PEO-3 Engage in effective teamwork & collaborative project or work requiring technical, environmental, and socio-economic considerations through life-long learning, research activities, mentorship, and dissemination of work by publications, presentations etc.

PEO-4 Exhibit professionalism in their engineering ability, ethical values, technical communication skill, to provide solutions that are technically sound, economically feasible, bounded by law and regulatory constraints, and socially acceptable.

Program Outcomes (PO)

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • Individual and Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  • Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)

  • PSO-1 Design, analyze and develop software and hardware-based systems in the key technology tracks of electronics and communication.
  • PSO-2 Undertake impactful research in fundamental, applied, and interdisciplinary areas, acquiring higher learning in advanced scientific tools and techniques.
  • PSO-3 Pursue a career in electronics and communication engineering and its allied areas with an ambition to fulfil societal, national, and global imperatives.

Objectives

    • To consolidate the Undergraduate (UG) Program through innovative curriculum planning and advanced laboratory development.
    • To expand and diversify the scope of the Post-graduate (PG) Program.
